About Melissa Dillon

Melissa Dillon has thirty years of commercial litigation experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of commercial disputes, primarily in the construction law arena, but also in residential and commercial real estate. Her practice emphasizes contract and construction law and litigation, contract review and drafting, mechanic’s liens, surety law, real estate issues including commercial lease drafting and review, and other commercial disputes. She has handled or assisted in numerous bench and jury trials in state and federal courts in at least fifteen different states, represented clients with federal claims in the various boards of contract appeals and federal claims courts, assisted with procurement issues, developed detailed construction claims, arbitrated and mediated a variety of different types of construction and commercial matters and handled appeals in both the state and federal court system. More recently, she completed training as an arbitrator and mediator, registering with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution as a neutral in 2010.
Ms. Dillon, like the other members of Strott & Dillon, LLC focuses on finding the most effective and efficient resolution for a client’s current issues, and seeks to develop an understanding of a client’s industry and particular needs to better advise clients on strategies to enhance their legal position going forward and to avoid or minimize future disputes.
A graduate from Kennesaw State College in and the University of Georgia. Ms. Dillon began her career at Griffin, Cochrane and Marshall, a boutique construction law firm, where she practiced until 2005 when she left to join a small real estate closing firm. After focusing on residential and commercial real estate issues, in 2006, Ms. Dillon returned to commercial litigation and in 2007 joined her practice with Mr. Strott, whom she knew from law school and from her practice at Griffin, Cochrane and Marshall.
